Bold & Classic: A Victorian Living Room with a Botanical Twist
"The team at Ivywell are such a pleasure to work with - highly creative, enthusiastic and full of great ideas. They have a very flexible approach and worked closely with me to bring my interiors dreams to life. They helped us with the colour scheme - making sure it had the dramatic flourishes we were looking for and ensuring it flowed around the house to give a cohesive feel. The textured wallpapers they suggested have added a luxury touch - not something I would have found on my own and I love the effect. Kirsty also helped us choose gorgeous curtains and blinds which we're delighted with. We've also chosen cabinets through their extensive product service. The team are lovely to work with - fun, creative and professional - and I'd highly recommend them."

A Botanical Retreat in Redland
The front room of this Victorian semi-detached home had lots of character but lacked cohesion and flow. Our brief was to create a calming yet stylish space that maximised functionality while celebrating the owner’s love for botanicals.
Enhancing the Room’s Character
The client embraced colour and wanted a scheme that complemented their vibrant red lampshades and showcased a large modern artwork. With high ceilings, a spacious bay window with timber louvre shutters, and a striking marble fireplace, the room was perfect for a rich, atmospheric palette. Inchyra Blue, a deep blue-green, beautifully tied all the elements together. Lighter shades on the built-in shelves created depth without overwhelming the space.
Curating the Perfect Pieces
A made-to-measure sofa anchored the room while allowing an uninterrupted flow from the door to the window. The second sofa, in deep green velvet, introduced a botanical influence. Positioned opposite the bay window, natural light enhanced the fabric’s luxurious sheen, shifting from fern green to chartreuse throughout the day.
As the room is regularly used for quartet cello practice, a traditional coffee table wasn’t practical. Instead, we opted for two matching aged bronze side tables—both functional and stylish. A smaller leather armchair added extra seating without crowding the space.
Finishing Touches
Oversized glass bottles and vases reinforced the botanical theme, while made-to-order grey linen curtains softened the space. Textured cushions added warmth, and a gallery wall featuring botanical prints curated by Sarah’s daughter became a meaningful focal point—a personal touch that completed the room.
