A Henleaze Haven: A Family Home Makeover

"Ivywell helped us make our new home ours. They helped us with choosing new colours for the house and redesigning a few rooms. We wanted a hotel feel bedroom and a nursery in neutral colours that will grow with our baby. They made the two rooms look amazing and exactly like we imagined them to be. Ivywell also put us in touch with various other people that they work with and we had an amazing build in wardrobe built in our bedroom and beautiful curtains & blinds throughout the house. Communication was very easy and the whole team was there to help through the project. We love our home and we are so happy that we found Ivywell to help us make our dream home come true".

Bringing Colour and Character to a Period Property
Nestled in the heart of Henleaze, with its bustling high street and charming cafés, this period property was ideal for the lovely couple and their young child to create their dream family home. With an impressive art collection to showcase, we knew colour would play a starring role in making the space feel both curated and deeply personal.

Reimagining the Ground Floor: Practicality Meets Personality
The ground floor featured an open-plan kitchen-diner and a snug at the rear. The couple had a few cherished furniture pieces they were keen to keep (and we’re all for personality!). Out went the banquette seating—practical, yes, but unnecessary in a space generous enough for their dining table and chairs. We added soft voile curtains in the sunroom to gently filter the light and repositioned the sofa to face the garden—perfect for keeping an eye on their little one exploring outdoors.

Creating Flow and Focus in the Living Room
While the kitchen was due for a slight refresh in the coming months, our focus was on creating flow between the living room and the rest of the home. With its generous proportions and feature fireplace, the living room deserved a statement chandelier—and we were happy to oblige.

Designing a Light and Airy Master Suite
Upstairs, the brief was clear: a light, airy master suite to balance the house’s darker tones. Neutral bedrooms are a favourite of ours, but we know they need layers to avoid feeling flat. We added voile panels for privacy, wave curtains for a touch of understated elegance, and textured wallpaper to bring depth to the space. The existing built-in wardrobe wasn’t quite cutting it, so we collaborated with our trusted partner, Creative Storage & Kitchens, to design a bespoke solution tailored to the couple’s needs.

A Nursery Designed to Grow with the Family
Just across the landing, the nursery was designed with growth in mind. We kept the layout open and the colour palette neutral, ensuring the space could evolve as the baby grows. But we couldn’t resist a little fun—a dreamy cloud-motif wallpaper on the ceiling adds a whimsical touch, while blackout blinds on the bay window ensure everyone gets their beauty sleep.

With work and family commitments to balance, the owners asked us to manage the project implementation. Thanks to our network of trade partners, we took the stress away to coordinate all trades and ensure a seamless execution. If you’re ready to transform your home, just get in touch!
