Creating a new home isn’t just about its looks – it’s about how it feels and functions for the people who live there. Many new builds fall short on practical features like storage and zoning. When the owners approached us, their brief was simple: more storage, more flow and more style. We were thrilled and got cracking to design something special.
Thoughtful Storage Solutions for Modern Living
The living room felt cold and underwhelming, with grey walls and a large corner sofa dominating the space. Without storage for books, toys, or board games, it wasn’t a room the family used often. But we could see the potential—it just needed a little imagination. Enter the idea of a floor-to-ceiling library wall!
Measuring nearly 7 metres, we brought in our partners, Creative Storage & Kitchens, to design a bespoke unit. Combining concealed storage with display shelves and mood lighting, the unit turned the living room into a warm and inviting space. (And yes, they had to hire an extra-long van to install it!). We finished the room with handmade curtains, textured wallpaper, a cosy rug, and a sofa chaise from Loaf, all in muted, warm tones. To top it off, a large chandelier added a touch of understated luxury.
With the owners short on time, they opted for our full project management service. We coordinated all trades—decorators, electricians, plumbers, and handymen—ensuring work ran smoothly and efficiently. At the same time, we sourced products, managed deliveries, and oversaw installation so the family could enjoy their new space in time for Christmas. While Megs was the clients’ main point of contact, our entire studio worked behind the scenes, combining our expertise to make the process seamless.
A Kitchen Designed for Daily Life and Entertaining
The kitchen layout worked well enough but lacked the practical storage needed for a busy family and dinner parties with friends. To maximise functionality, we designed a banquette seating arrangement with an extendable dining table along the longer wall. For a touch of elegance and to bounce more light, we upgraded the breakfast bar and splashback with a light engineered stone featuring soft marble veining, echoing the warm, luxurious feel of the living room.
A Compact Bar for Hosting in Style
With one last alcove near the utility room, we saw an opportunity to add even more personality to the home. The space was just large enough for a compact home bar—perfect for the owners, who love to host.
Fresh Updates Beyond the Main Spaces
With most of the budget focused on the kitchen and living room, we ensured the rest of the home didn’t miss out on a little refresh. In the WC cloakroom, a new colour scheme and textured wallpaper added personality and depth, delivering maximum impact without exceeding costs.
